This is a sandwich that usually works out for one lunch for the 4 of us. Lots of flavors packed into one big loaf of french bread. Cheap and easy ingredients, just takes some time to put together and tastes best when left wrapped up to soap up the flavors for 8 hours, but it’s up to you if you eat sooner than that. Here is the complete recipe:

Muffaletta Sandwich

This is a sandwich for everyone, good flavors wrapped up in a big loaf of french bread. Serves 4 people for lunch well.

Servings 4 people

  • 1 loaf french or italian bread
  • 1/2 cup red peppers (optional to taste)
  • 1/4 cup parsley fresh is best
  • 3 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 tbsp red wine vinegar
  • 2 tbsp chopped hot or mild peppers
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tsp dried oregano
  • 1/4 tsp pepper
  • lettuce
  • 6 oz deli turkey breast
  • 6 oz deli ham
  • 6 oz provolone cheese

  1. First cut the loaf of bread in half, pull out some of the soft center of each piece leaving the shell 1 1/2" thick. In a bowl combine the pepper, parsley, oil, vinegar, hot peppers, garlic, oregano and pepper. Spoon out the mixture and spread on the top and bottom pieces of the bread. Later the turkey, cheese, ham and lettuce to your liking, put the last of the mixture on the middle before putting it together and wrap in plastic. Refrigerate for at least 8 hours for best taste.

Easy to throw together and mix up. I personally got the mild banana peppers since I knew the kids would be eating it, but for extra zest you can definitely try the hot pepper rings, just chop them up finely for the mix. My son added some mayonnaise to his piece, you can add anything else you like after it is put together. Let me know your take on the sandwich! Hope you enjoy it! Great for a nice afternoon lunch or snack, or to make for the work week and cut up and take in slices. Shockingly NO one complained about anything when I made this sandwich yesterday.
